JOB SUMMARY
The Retail Operations Associate supports daily showroom and stockroom operations while delivering outstanding customer service. This role helps maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked environment while assisting customers, supporting inventory flow, and contributing to overall operational success.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and comfortable working in both customer-facing and warehouse environments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide professional, proactive customer service by assisting customers with product selection, product-related questions, and showroom navigation.

  • Support overall showroom presentation and customer experience.

  • Communicate professionally with customers and internal teams.

  • Provide support for the sales team as needed, including occasional POS transactions and customer assistance.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked showroom with properly tagged merchandise and displays.

  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with restocking and product organization

  • Utilize inventory software and internal systems to locate product and validate inventory accuracy.

  • Conduct inventory cycle counts as requested, relaying discrepancies via email.

  • Follow warehouse management system directed tasking to transport pallets of product safely between staging areas (docks, pack/holds, manual depal area and storage areas (rack) following established preferred work methods (PWMs).

  • Inspect product being moved for shortages, damage, quality, or deterioration of packing and report to supervisor.

  • Replenish product to full pallet or hand stack pick location/slot from reserve location following directed tasking and established PWMs.

  • Remove shrink wrap, bands or tape when placing a pallet into a selection location (for replenishments).

  • Must complete the forklift operator certification process and testing.

  • Adhere to warehouse management system directed selection pick path, accurately select product from inventory, label correctly.

  • Stack product on the pallet with heavier items on the bottom and lighter items on top to prevent damage to the lighter products and to maintain a secure pallet.

  • Secure pallets with shrink wrap according to established PWMs for delivery.

  • Record any necessary/required item information into the warehouse management system.

  • Convey any unsanitary conditions to the supervisor.

  • Communicate load, product or pallet issues to the supervisor.

  • Unload inbound products, supplies or equipment from trailers, onto the dock for receipt utilizing material handling equipment following established preferred work methods (PWMs) to avoid damage to equipment or product, and according to specified configurations for storage and shipment.

  • Administer shrink wrap to other pallets as needed to secure products for storage and shipment.

  • Hand load product onto trucks as required.

  • Ensure pallets received meet defined requirements.

  • Assure all item information is appropriately recorded into the warehouse management system by verifying and entering piece count and weights against bills of lading, invoices, and other records.

  • Record all overages, shortages, and damages on the OS&D form.

  • Report repair or service needs to supervisor to avoid damage or an unsafe condition.

  • Review pallets for quality issues and notify the supervisor of them.

  • Ensure pallet labels are affixed to the correct order and residual pallets.

  • Use MHE equipment only on a product that can’t be easily damaged or broken.

  • Hand move (lump or handle) cases when necessary to avoid product damage.

  • Follow the warehouse management system to ensure required product date rotation and tracking.

  • Track and report all indirect work time in other job functions to support work measurement.

  • Work effectively with immediate supervisor to minimize warehouse shrink/damage (product loss).

  • Responsible for the neatness and cleanliness of assigned work areas and travel aisles, and the accuracy of warehouse locations.

  • Report any unfixable/unsafe issues immediately to the supervisor.

  • Detect and enforce all safety rules to eliminate accidents and injuries.

  • Operate appropriate material handling equipment (MHE), such as forklifts and pallet jacks, in a safe and orderly manner to eliminate accidents and injuries.

  • Observe proper lifting techniques and physical work practices following established PWMs.

  • Establish that MHE is maintained (perform daily inspection) and clean; report repair or service needs to supervisor to minimize equipment damage and downtime.

  • Use warehouse computers and radio frequency (RF) equipment safely and professionally to avoid damage to equipment.

  • Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, code of business conduct and ethics, associate handbook, etc.

  • Comply with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA {Occupational Health and Safety Administration}, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), etc.).


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

  • Must pass a functional capacity test. 

  • Proficient experience and skills, specifically with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook, are required.

Education

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Experience

  • 6 months of previous warehouse experience and/or training preferred.

  • Material handling equipment experience preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Certification on material handling equipment is required, or the ability to become certified. See the requirement within each individual role.

  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Must have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems by using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions.  Problems will vary in complexity and there will not always be a clearly defined solution.  Some solutions may require modifying past applications or creating a solution unique to the current situation, but within the regulations that would apply.

  • Frequently exposed to fast-moving material handling equipment or other mechanical equipment, extreme cold or heat in freezer/cooler warehouse environments including a temperature of zero degrees.

  • Regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, contained toxic or caustic chemicals, low voltage electrical equipment, and vibration.
    The noise level in the work environment usually is loud.

  • This is a full-time position.

  • Must have the ability to work a varying schedule which might include shift work (days or nights), weekdays or weekends, and some holidays.

  • Work hours may vary or change based on customer orders, departmental or business requirements.

  • The position does not require travel.
