Job Profile Summary Responsible for examining, evaluating, and reporting on financial, operational and managerial processes, systems and outcomes to ensure integrity and compliance. Activities include some/all of the following: • Process/operations monitoring and review • Financial transaction monitoring and review • Systems auditing (e.g., IT systems audit; information security evaluation) • Audit reporting for external auditors, regulatory authorities, joint venture partners, etc.

Position Summary

Assures Sysco’s operating companies, divisions, and corporate office are in compliance with established guidelines (Financial and Accounting Methods Manual (FAMM), Generally Accepted Accounting Principals (GAAP), senior management directives and federal, state, and local laws and regulations).

Essential and Responsibilities: include the following.  Other duties may be assigned:

Oversee the planning, performance, and completion of financial and operational reviews of operating companies, divisions, and the corporate office.  This includes being responsible for up to approximately six auditors (Staff and Seniors Auditors) per engagement.  Formally report results/ recommendations to management.

Provide performance evaluations to senior and staff auditors after each review.

Direct Supervision of Senior Auditors, including performing the annual evaluation.  (if we add this does it change anything?)

Demonstrate a critical thinking mindset when analyzing and solving problems occurring during reviews.

Oversee Staff and Senior. Auditors leading special reviews such as Credit, Shrink, SYGMA site, Guest Supply, FreshPoint, Sysco Specialty Meat company and Acquisition reviews.

Provide value-added financial and/or system assistance to operating companies as necessary.

Respond to operating company inquiries regarding financial and compliance guidelines.

Review and approve expense reports for accuracy, completeness, and appropriateness.

Review and approve time-off requests (vacation, sick, floating holidays, and flex) in accordance with Sysco policy.

Assist in identifying problem areas and needs of Sysco and work towards their resolution.

Review and assist in special projects as assigned.

Assist in recruiting, interviewing and hiring new auditors.

Assist in training and development new and current auditors.

Exhibit a willingness and ability to lead and coach others in development areas.

Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise Staff and Senior Auditors on audits as well as on special projects in the office. Direct Supervision of Senior Auditors

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.  CPA or CIA designation is a plus and is strongly encouraged, but not required.  Minimum of two years experience in public accounting or industry and at least one to two years of Sysco experience.  Must have some knowledge of all areas of a Sysco operating company and understanding guidelines/ procedures established in the FAMM and as set forth by Sysco’s senior management and by federal, state and local laws and regulations.

Language SkillsMust have good written and verbal communication skills.  Verbalizes and writes clearly and concisely.  Ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively communicate with operating company management.  Bilingual skills are a plus but not required.

Accounting knowledgeMust have a good understanding of all accounting knowledge required to perform journal entries, reconciliations, and other functions required of a Controller.

Sitting, standing, walking, talking on the phone, typing on the computer, lifting of luggage and audit materials (including laptop computer), bending, stooping, etc. (when reviewing warehouse operations), up to 50% travel by plane to locations across the U.S. and Canada.
