An engineering team is responsible to develop, enhance, modernize and support business critical applications using modern technologies (e.g., React, Node.js, Java, Cloud-native, etc.). The engineering team will continue a high rate of growth over the next 2-3 years and the Senior Director of Engineering will drive the strategy and organizational process across teams globally.

JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Director, Enterprise Apps Engineering is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and software delivery of to support platforms across Finance, HR, and other key enablement functions. The Senior Director manages a global capability teams accountable for platform engineering, software development, intelligent automation, and AI enablement.
This leader will drive modern engineering practices and innovation, with a focus on technical excellence, velocity, scalability, and quality. The role carries ownership of the ERP modernization journey—including the migration of legacy systems (e.g., AS/400, rehosted mainframes) to scalable, cloud-based enterprise platforms such as Workday and custom-built solutions. This strategic transformation will enable a more agile, integrated, and data-driven enterprise application landscape.
This position also plays a critical part in managing the financial operations of the function—including budget forecasting, optimizing global resourcing models, and maximizing ROI through both internal teams (e.g., Global In-House Centers in Sri Lanka) and strategic partners.
The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong financial acumen, global leadership experience, and a passion for enabling business value through modern digital platforms and AI-enhanced software delivery.
Leadership and Management Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end engineering roadmap for enterprise applications including Finance, HR and shared enablement platforms like RPA and Intelligent automation.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled software development practices, including generative AI for code generation, automated testing, defect prediction, and documentation to increase engineering productivity and reduce cycle times.
- Lead DevSecOps maturity across engineering teams to support continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), test automation, and secure development at scale.
- Lead and execute the ERP modernization strategy by transitioning from legacy platforms (e.g., AS/400, rehosted mainframes) to modern, cloud-native solutions such as Workday and scalable custom platforms.
- Provide strong financial oversight of the enterprise applications portfolio including multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets, forecast accuracy, and total cost of ownership optimization.
- Manage global resource pools effectively, leveraging Global In-House Centers (e.g., Sri Lanka) and strategic partners to ensure talent scalability, productivity, and optimal delivery.
- Lead vendor governance for enterprise platforms and services, ensuring performance, compliance, and alignment with enterprise standards and SLAs.
- Develop and mentor a high-performing global technology team, ensuring skill development, succession planning, and retention across regions.
- Act as a thought leader and transformation agent across business and IT teams to bring AI, automation, and engineering innovation into the core of enterprise capabilities.
Capability Governance, Strategy, and Delivery
Primary responsibilities include:
- Define and continuously evolve the strategic roadmap for enterprise engineering practices—focused on resiliency, automation, observability, and intelligent delivery pipelines.
- Lead the ERP modernization journey by identifying legacy systems for transformation, building phased migration plans, and delivering scalable replacements on cloud-based platforms and services.
- Lead the design and execution of enterprise platforms including:
- HCM systems (e.g. Workday, ADP, Radancy, etc. and the broader partner solutions)
- Finance platforms (e.g. Workday, SAP, D365)
- Integration middleware (e.g. MuleSoft, IIB, Kafka Streaming, Apigee)
- AI and automation platforms (BluePrism, Microsoft Power Platform, internal Agentic AI frameworks and platforms)
- Drive AI-enabled engineering practices such as test script generation, performance monitoring, error prediction, and dynamic user personalization.
- Deliver high-quality, scalable solutions by setting coding, testing, documentation, and deployment standards for cross-functional teams.
- Oversee technical architecture, integration governance, data modeling, and system security frameworks.
- Partner closely with Enterprise Architecture, Cyber, Data Governance, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to standards and policies.
- Manage financial planning for internal and external spend, including software licensing, infrastructure, resource allocation, and innovation funding.
- Leverage global delivery models and development centers, with clear performance KPIs, intake models, and skillset alignment to business demand for this area.
- Collaborate in integration efforts during M&A to align enterprise systems, data, and platforms across the enterprise.
