POSITION SUMMARY:

The Global Mobility Manager role is responsible for the management of the company’s global mobility program, ensuring the program fully supports the company’s business needs. The global mobility function includes international and domestic assignments, one-way domestic and international relocations and immigration. The person in this hands-on role will partner closely with HRBP’s, Recruiting, Compensation, Benefits, Legal, Payroll, Tax, Business Leaders and other external service providers to ensure a seamless mobility experience. The role is responsible for ensuring a high level of service with a key focus on associate experience and efficient mobility programs. Additionally, this person is responsible for program compliance and supplier partner management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Act as a manager and trusted business partner to business leaders on global and domestic mobility topics.
  • Manage a mobility portfolio of 500+ associates (i.e. pool of transferees (US Domestic and International), commuters, expatriates and frequent international business travelers).
  • Serve as the internal representative to support associates during transition and through domestic or international assignments (to include 1:1 consultation, pre-assignment activities, physical move, and repatriation processes).
  • Develops a comprehensive approach to creating a positive experience for employees and their families for the full life cycle of the international assignment.
  • Evaluate & manage day-to-day interactions with a complex and high performing set. of suppliers/vendors to ensure a smooth experience for our employees including contract negotiation, evaluation of customer feedback, vendor audit, and performance review. Vendor services may include tax preparation services, immigration services, relocation, home sale/purchase, household goods move, corporate housing, cultural awareness training.
  • Ensure compliance with global mobility policies and processes.
  • Generate move and assignment cost projections for international mobility and present for approval as required.
  • Responsible for coordination of annual cyclical events to ensure policy compliance.
  • Prompt resolution of issues and proactive responses to associates and business partners.
  • Manage the various aspect of Sysco’s tax equalization program including coordination of hypo-tax withholding updates for international assignments, compliance with overseas taxing authorities tracking and coordination of tax equalization results to ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of the process, and coordination with global payroll team members on shadow payroll reporting.
  • Interpret business needs and influence program structure, policies and design to ensure global mobility program meets those needs.
  • Develop, recommend, implement, and continuously improve Global Mobility strategies, initiatives, and policies aligned with the overall current & planned future corporate and business strategies.
  • Provide support and advice in identifying existing policy changes or process improvement recommendations to address compliance issues.
  • Facilitates ongoing “value analysis” to ensure Sysco’s global mobility programs are competitively designed with a cost-efficient structure.
  • Monitor exceptions and make recommendations, when appropriate, to grant exceptions.
  • Network and participate in professional organizations to keep current on trends around domestic and international mobility programs.
  • Dedicated resource for executive employee population to independently handle all policy interpretations and related escalations and exceptions to policy. Ability to understand impact to business and precedence setting when making decisions. 

 

Education and / or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Finance or related business discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of Global Mobility experience; managing the deployment of employees domestically and internationally
  • Demonstrated thorough understanding of expatriate taxation
  • Strong technical skills including MS Office and/or other related systems; Workday experience is a plus
  • Possession of a natural curiosity about living or traveling abroad
  • Experience living and working internationally is a plus
  • Global Mobility Specialist certification is a plus

 

Professional Skills:

  • Experience with domestic and international assignment management for a global organization
  • Experience operating in a collaborative environment, strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience working across multiple functions including A/P, Payroll, Corporate Tax, HR, Legal, Travel, etc.
  • Experience in assisting all levels of associates with immigration and taxation issues
  • Strong knowledge of global payroll reporting, mobility accruals, cost allocation and budgeting
  • Understanding of income tax rules, social security and tax treaties
