Brief Role Description

 

Responsible for controlling the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Control functions, which includes performing cycle counts of the warehouse inventory, conducting investigations of suspected out-of-balance items and making corrections to the inventory based upon that research, coordinating all special processing of inventory including the return to vendor shipments and performing other related tasks.  Briefly describe the major function of this position and the reason it exists.  Summarize into two or three sentences.

This position is responsible for all aspects of Inventory control (track all products coming in and out of the plant, keep track of age on product and rotation of product). 

 

Primary Areas of Responsibility

Establishing and maintaining controls for managing inventory, including directing and doing cycle counts and/or monthly physical inventory counts. 

NOTE – position may include managing 1-2 direct reports or may indirectly manage Operations associates.

Following up on any inaccuracies in inventory. Analysis of causes for inventory discrepancies.

Daily adjustment and accuracy of inventory

 

 

Measure and report on KPIs related to inventory management. Work cross-functionally to communicate root causes for discrepancies and to develop solutions for lower DSOs.

Maintenance of the fresh inventory.  Make sure all product is rotated by the oldest age, slotting info.

 

Work with buyers on product that is being over-ordered or shorted

Working on special projects for operation

 

Minimum Education

 

AA degree in Accounting or Finance required.

4-year degree preferred

Minimum Experience

Degree plus 1 year in supply chain management/operations (food production, operations), or equivalent experience

Skills

Strong communication skills – The liaison between Buyers, processing, sales, Operations and Finance.
