General Summary:

This is a Line Haul Driver delivery position responsible for driving and carrying trailers up to 53’ delivering to designated locations and returning empty trailers as well as delivering trailers to drop a load of product.  May also be required to help deliver and unload product as required.  This requires using excellent customer service skills, and working in accordance with state and DOT regulations and Safety Preferred Work Methods.

General Summary:

All shuttle drivers are responsible for transporting full trailers of product and empty trailers back and forth from the OPCO’s main DC to the designated domicile shipping locations. The shuttle drivers are responsible for ensuring the assign trailers for each domicile drivers are properly set up for delivery dispatch and empty trailers are returned to the main OPCO.

 

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Operate vehicle in a variety of traffic and weather conditions. 
  • Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
  • Effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong customer relations and problem resolution skills.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.

Safely driving the trailers between the OPCO’s main DC and the domicile drop locations

Breaking down/unhooking trailers from the line haul tractor and transport dollies to properly set up the domicile drivers for delivery dispatch

Handling and turning in driver paperwork, product returns and empty pallets at the main OPCO

Cleaning out trailers from previous deliveries

QUALIFICATIONS

List the minimum required levels of Education, Experience, and Special Skills needed to perform the responsibilities of the position.

Education

Minimum Required:

High School or GED or equivalent

Experience

Minimum Required:

One year route delivery experience or applicable background driving a tractor trailer and doubles.

Valid Commercial Driver’s License – Class A 

Must be able to read and understand English.

 

Skills

Minimum Required:

Proven ability to communicate articulately and perform simple arithmetic (Experience in handling money preferred)

DECISION-MAKING AUTHORITY

Most important decisions made fully independently:

Properly hook and unhook trailers to ensure equipment is attached correctly for safe delivery.

Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (include the reviews/approvals required):

Driving different equipment that has been previously assigned.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License with a “clean” driving record (including: no single DUI in the last 3 years and no multiple DUIs within the last 10 years)
  • No chargeable accidents within the last three (3) years. 
  • Three (3+) year's commercial driving experience with 53' trailers.
  • Able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations
  • Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Must pass pre-employment testing (Drug Screen, Background Check, DOT Physical)
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl, and talk and hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move approximately 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities include close and distance vision for safe driving.
