POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Governance (DG) Manager will be a strong leader who can drive and implement DG capabilities and processes across Sysco’s DG Organization with the goal of assuring highly available, high quality data in the Sysco landscape. The DG Manager role is to drive creation and enforcement of data standards, policy directives, and processes across all data domains. The primary measures of success for the DG Manager are as follows:

  • Ensure that the DG Organization meets deadlines for support of One Sysco Data initiatives; identify and resolve or escalates issues or roadblocks to the DG Leader
  • Leverage knowledge of data systems and business usage of data to develop, refine, and implement achievable data governance goals
  • Facilitate strong engagement of data stewards and data curators to ensure Sysco’s Data governance organization delivers measurable business value

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support the DG Leader by providing expert insight in data strategy planning, value realization mapping, roadmap development, and risk reporting and monitoring
  • Provide leadership for the following DG groups:
    • Monitor DG Working Groups affiliated with OSD projects:
    • Drive DG Working Groups outside of projects
    • Develop the DG Council meeting agenda and materials
  • Review, monitor and enforce data standards, data quality standards and data governance policies in support of One Sysco Data and other future projects
  • Lead overall DG operations by managing analyst staffing, intake, risks/issues, communications, and data steward engagement
  • Monitors the program to identify significant/systemic trends requiring attention/remediation that could be in the following areas: data stewardship, data quality, governance, master data management, business metadata management, reference data management
  • Drive delivery and implementation of data quality initiatives to ensure organizational goals are met and value is realized in the business

Education and / or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems Management or related field (an equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience may be considered).
  • Master’s Degree in an information technology or business administration field focused on information management or digital communications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of proven and progressive data governance/data management experience
  • Expert knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, and Master Data Management concepts
  • Understanding of Customer, Item (material) and Supplier (vendor) data domains highly preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience of using a Data Governance tool highly preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of project lifecycle management methodologies and best practices
  • Active or recent lead in a Data Governance project
  • Experience establishing data quality control and implementing data standards, data stewardship, metadata management, data lifecycle management, or data architecture management
  • Minimum 3 years food service or related industry experience preferred
  • Project management experience in both large and small-scale projects is an advantage
  • Experience working in and knowledge of wholesale distribution is preferred
  • Prior SQL development experience is preferred both building and troubleshooting SQL would be advantageous
  • Strong experience in assigned functional area processes and procedures

Professional Skills:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • SQL development experience is preferred both building and troubleshooting SQL would be ideal
  • Knowledge of and experience of using a Data Governance tools (e.g. Informatica Axon, Collibra, etc.) highly preferred
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Superior organizational and prioritization skills
  • Strong negotiation, communication and influencing skills
  • Understanding of data quality reporting methodologies and capabilities
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience of using a Data Governance tools (e.g. Informatica Axon, Collibra, etc.) highly preferred
  • Knowledge in identifying, measuring and implementing success metrics in Data Management
  • Advanced Microsoft Office user (WORD, PowerPoint; Excel; Visio; MS Project)
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with all levels of management and staff
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment while managing associated stress
  • Comprehensive knowledge / understanding of support processes and methodologies. (e.g., incident management, change control management, service validation and testing, etc.)
  • Experience with and competence in using, integrated ERP software
  • Ability to articulate ideas to technical and non-technical staff and end users
  • Superior problem solving abilities
  • Flexible; readily accepts new changes and is viewed as a change champion; open to new ideas
  • Maintains positive attitude and helps to promote in others
  • Proven ability to identify, focus on, and own high priority issues and tasks
  • History of meeting deadlines and delivering high quality results
