Leads group of Product Support Advisors, Category Planners, Director/s and/or Manager/s, and local Merchandising Admins; number of direct reports varies by Opco size Accountable for the overall performance, management and development of the OpCo merchandising department. Drive achievement of department and company goals which includes but is not limited to: exemplary customer order fulfillment while managing inventory to the lowest possible DSO, supporting OpCo profitability through product cost and equity management, participate in and support sales growth strategies, deploy inbound logistic strategies, drive replenishment strategy that contributes to warehouse operational efficiencies. Drive execution of corporate strategies such as Category Management and Product Assortment Management consisting of both national and local assortments to meet sales demands.
- Build, manage and develop OpCo merchandising team through regular department meetings; on-going interaction & communication; monitoring associate morale; and responding to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement
- Interprets, trains and consistently reinforces Company policies and procedures
- Maintain OpCo Inventory Management Service Level, and DSO goals while maximizing operational efficiencies
- Lead and support the implementation of corporate and market initiatives (ex.Category Management, National Assortment, etc.) through all OpCo functions in order to achieve/exceed Annual Operating Plan
- Drive cross functional strategies to achieve Post-Ship Service Level Goals
- Manage sales support activities within the local merchandising organization
- Perform supplier and broker reviews to evaluate sales and gross profit growth opportunities
- Accountable for item cost (product and freight) accuracy
- Responsible for item equity and realized equity management,
- Manage earned income components; negotiate local earned income programs
- Provide field feedback to the market and corporate teams for action and/or alignment
- Direct local merchandising, supplier, and broker resources in conjunction with Dir. of Bus. Resources
- Collaborate with Sales and Revenue Management on Sysco funded customer deviations
- Engage in the Deal Manager ROI Review process.
- Drive cross functional item assortment management process
- Drive activities that grow company gross margin and earned income
- Support & participate in customer and sales meetings/events to support sales
- Approve product returns per company policy as required
- 8+ years management/professional experience. Significant category management, merchandising and/or operations experience within a retail, wholesale or distribution environment preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of degree sufficient to successfully perform essential job functions.
- Master's degree
