Description of responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with Business Analysts and Business Partners on requirements and solution design
  • Provide estimates and prepare technical specification based on understanding of functional specification
  • Design and code based on development standards and approaches
  • Perform development quality checks
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced developers
  • Perform unit test
  • Assist with functional acceptance testing as needed
  • Provide timely defect resolution to minimize delays in project time-line
  • Assist with code build and deployment process
  • Provide timely status updates
  • Contribute, understand and adhere to Application Development processes, software development standards, and technical approaches relevant to assigned technology
  • Provide after-hours support
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership team

 

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems preferred

 

Skills and experience:

  • 5+ years of overall IT work experience
  • 5+ years of experience in C#, .Net, C, Pro C, or Java
  • Knowledge of software development standards and best practice approaches
  • Exposure to business and functional areas
  • Exposure to Agile development methodology
  • Ability to perform multiple duties concurrently with attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work under the guidance of the Technical Lead and supervision of the Manager
  • Ability to proactively monitor and communicate for timely escalation of issues
  • Ability to troubleshoot and debug in assigned technology
  • Ability to interact with internal and external team members
  • Previous Mobile application development experience
  • Previous experience with Motorola/Zebra is a plus
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly
  • Ability to understand and follow BT department data metrics requirements (such as time recording and project tracking)
  • Ability to understand and comply with all SYSCO Corporate policies
  • Technical Skills:
  • Experience in creating applications using at least 1 of the following; C#, .Net Compact Framework, C, Oracle Pro C, Oracle/PLSQL, Java programming languages is desired
  • Experience operating in a Unix, AIX or Linux environment
  • Experience with the Oracle DBMS
  • Microsoft embedded C/C++
    • Understand Windws CE SDK-type programs (WinMain/GetMessage/TranslateMessage/DispatchMessage, native Windows and Events)
    • Native windws message queues and APIs
    • Native windws synchronization APIs, events, and event handling
    • Creating and managing prcesses
    • Creating and managing multiple threads
    • Native exceptin handling (__try, __except, __finally)
    • Native winsck APIs, non-blocking sockets
  • Microsoft .Net Compact Framework and C#
    • Understand .Net Patterns and Practices, especially Mdel-View-Controller and Factory
    • Understand pInvke
    • Creating and managing multiple prcesses
    • Creating and managing multiple threads
    • Clear understanding f iDisposable interface, Dispose(), and .Net CF memory management
    • Barcde scanning and decoding, including UCC/EAN/GS1-128 parsing
    • Barcde printing
    • Bluetoth communication, both using serial COM ports/events and using Motorola WPAN classes
    • Building cmplex solutions with multiple satellite assemblies
    • Develp and build solutions supporting multiple languages/cultures, both in Forms and Resources
    • Understanding TCP/IP scket communications, including non-blocking sockets
    • Understand SOAP and web services in a nn-WCF application
    • Understand bject serialization/deserialization
    • Understand .Net Reflectin
    • Understanding Delegates and callbacks
    • Develp custom controls
    • Develp custom Events and Event Handlers
    • Understand .Net exceptin handling, try/catch/finally/throw
    • Understand lck() { } blocks
    • Cnfigure and create complex deployment .CABs using cabwiz utility
    • Develp complex, nested makefiles to build Solutions from command line
    • Experience with Micrsoft SqlCE database and complex SQL queries
    • Experience with Micrsoft SourceSafe and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Zebra QL series printers
    • Experience with Zebra CPCL printer language
      • Ability to print text, barcodes, and bitmap graphics
    • Ability t print to printer using Bluetooth and TCP/IP
    • Printer status messages, errr handling and recovery
  • Devices/Terminals
    • Experience with Mtorola (formerly Symbol) ruggedized mobile devices, including forklift-mount, wearables, and gun-style units
    • Experience with Micrsoft WM emulators for debugging
    • Experience with PcketPC 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0, Windows CE 4.2, 5.0, 6.0; and WEC 7.
    • Understanding f RAM vs. Flash storage, persistent memory
    • Understanding f device power management, power states and events, and power transitions
    • Understanding f warm-boot, cold-boot, and clean-boot startup
    • Experience with develping and installing custom keyboard maps using embedded C/C++
    • Experience with large-scale, cmplex application deployments
  • Other
    • Experience with Oracle and AIX is a plus
    • Experience with Warehuse Management applications is a plus
