POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse supervisor is responsible for ensuring day to day efficient operation and all policies and procedures that are related to products being received and shipped through the warehouse are followed. On a daily basis, effectively directs associates, ensuring associates are in compliance with all safety policies, all products is checked for quality and accurate quantity, material handles, selectors, and partial-order pullers. Some Opcos will also include quality assurance and high lift in addition to receiving and warehouse. Warehouse supervisors are expected to continually provide leadership, direction, vision, and build alignment with the Sysco mission and vision.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide technical, customer relations, and personnel management for major programs and projects.
  • Overseeing daily receiving processes on the dock and in the coolers, ensuring preferred work methods are being followed by associates and assisting employees if short staffed driving forklifts, shipping trucks, receiving product, loading trucks, or cleaning warehouse.
  • Communicating with the teams on daily basis to explore opportunities within the inbound and outbound processes
  • Communicating to Sales, Purchasing, and Inventory Control
  • Review, coach, and develop the associates.  Monitoring work, adherence to policy and safety requirements.  Issuing discipline when necessary.  Maintains associate relations through regular department or pre-shift meetings; maintains on-going interaction; keeps open communication channels with associates by answering questions and explaining policies and procedures; monitors associate morale; and submits and respond to ideas to improve associate engagement and enablement.
  • Reviews staffing needs for the shift and crew, makes adjustments and recommendations to senior management concerning staffing.
  • Performing substitution of items that are not available for selection
  • Spot check orders for accuracy and quality.  Pulling critical care orders or double-checking them for quality and accuracy.
  • Inspects material handling equipment daily for safe operations and coordinates required repairs with maintenance department.
  • Performs the duties of employees supervised and other related duties as needed.
  • Complies with local, state and federal regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, AIB, FDA, USDA, etc.)

 

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Two or Four year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management or similar major preferred.

 

CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Obtain a Powered Industrial Equipment Certification from Sysco within 3 months.

 

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.                                 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.                                
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
  • Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner.
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments and shifts in a proactive and constructive manner.
  • Ability to work in a disciplined manner and capable of following established procedures, practices and comply with local, state and federal regulations.

    • While perfrming the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk or hear. The associate is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance. The associate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The associate must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.  Specific visin abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT 

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. 
    • While perfrming the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold and/or humid conditions; and moving mechanical parts. The employee works non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. The employee may occasionally be required to travel to other Operating Companies or the corporate office as business needs dictate (i.e. training, business continuation, etc.).The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
