“POSITION SUMMARY”

The Inventory Control Supervisor is responsible for controlling the day-to-day operations of the Inventory Control functions, which includes performing cycle counts of the warehouse inventory, conducting investigations of suspected out-of-balance items and making corrections to the inventory based upon that research.  Coordinating all special processing of inventory including return to vendor shipments and performing other related tasks.   Also responsible for supporting DC Operations from a systems perspective by maintaining item balance and transactional integrity between PeopleSoft and High Jump.  This position works as part of a team to support DC Operations by understanding the interactions of the Company’s computer systems as related to the physical activities of the business.

 

 

“PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES”

(ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

 

 

  • Manage the inventory control function effectively and indirectly lead warehouse staff to identify and resolve variances, and potential variances, to achieve an accurate, perpetual inventory count and protect company assets.
  • Maintain, develop, and implement procedures that ensure the highest levels of inventory accuracy are achieved while minimizing the amount of shrink incurred.
  • Review daily inventory reports for possible errors and communicate this information as appropriate. 
  • Organize and facilitate shrink meetings and identify the root causes for shrink.
  • May participate in the hiring and training of warehouse associates.
  • Manage the Product Recall process
  • Reconcile PeopleSoft and High Jump balances on a daily basis by utilizing various reports (i.e., Inventory Reconciliation Report).  Investigate and resolve BCT Errors by analyzing transaction flow in both systems, understanding the impact on the item balances and timing issues and transaction process.  This function is intertwined with several audit functions between PS/HJ on a daily basis.
  • Support the On-Line Database by understanding each request for a return of merchandise or report of a shipment discrepancy.  Analyze request, determine resolution requirements and processing accordingly.
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve various requests involving transaction discrepancies as reported and/or requested by DC Operations, Customer Service, Purchasing, Accounts Payable, etc.
  • Analyze Proof of Delivery and determine whether a freight claim should be filed against the Carrier based on its legal requirements.  File freight claims through 3rd party software packages where applicable.

 

“QUALIFICATIONS”

MINIMUM EDUCATION, INCLUDING DEGREES & CERTIFICATIONS:  

•            High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE (YEARS & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE):

•            3 years supervisory experience in a Distribution / Warehouse environment.

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and professional interactive skills are necessary to perform at a high degree of proficiency. 
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and inter-department staff.  Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments in a proactive and constructive manner. Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to develop and lead a team to achieve quality and continuous improvement goals through training, coaching, performance management and effective communications.
  • Ability to provide effective training to department staff on areas such as SOP’s, Safety, Conduct, etc.

  • Proficient use of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook). Ability to learn and apply Guest Supply technology software and programs.  Familiarity with PeopleSoft ERP and High Jump a plus.

  • While this position will primarily work in a manufacturing environment, this position will require travel. There is very limited overnight travel required and specifically pertains to company events, staff meetings, training sessions & vendor fairs. May be required to utilize personal vehicle for business travel that may result in long periods of sitting.
  • If working remote, must have required software to ensure timely communications.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • This position may require evening and weekend work depending on business needs.
  • This position is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, elevated ambient temperature, moving, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.
