SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:

This role is responsible for researching, analyzing, developing, communicating and measuring Sysco’s overall approach to customer/channel pricing, discounts, and promotion optimization.  He/She will work closely with leadership at corporate, distribution centers, other Sysco commercial functions, and with external partners to drive people, process and solutions that are aligned to initiatives designed to drive margin and gross profit improvement.  In addition, this role will be responsible for collaboratively owning the cross functional development of the strategies for customer/channel price framework, discounts, and promotion optimization.  He/she will have accountability and responsibility for working on a variety of initiatives and with numerous corporate and field based teams on the development and execution of a wide range of price, discount, and promotion based strategies.   

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This individual will be responsible for the research, analysis, modeling, development and commercialization of various Revenue Management initiatives in the areas of customer/channel price development, discount, and promotion optimization.  This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Representing an enterprise-wide view of the value chain from net cost to customer price, especially as it relates to the engagement with Merchandising, Sales, Marketing, distribution centers and other corporate departments
  • Collaborating with corporate and distribution center business leadership, Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, Merchandising, and  Finance teams to develop appropriate solutions to address business challenges
  • Ownership of all phases to develop customer/channel price framework, discount, and promotion optimization from design through measurement
  • Creating and managing overall pricing strategy and discount methodology by customer group and channels
  • Monitoring competitive prices and market based pricing activity
  • Establishing and enforcing guardrails developed through strategic initiatives
  • Creating framework to measure executed strategies
  • Designing processes and technology to execute against the portfolio of assigned initiatives
  • Directing and reviewing quantitative and statistical studies, e.g., correlation, multivariate regression, predictive analysis, that evaluate critical areas for improvement, including price setting, price governance and compliance, and alignment with channels, brands, and customer segment strategies
  • Collaborating, engaging, influencing and directing the work of a variety of corporate and field based teams based on key initiatives, with a broad relationship network
  • Contributing to the achievement of financial and non financial goals and objectives set forth by leadership

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • 4 year bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Marketing, Finance, or related field required
  • Advanced degree preferred


REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience working in a project, results-driven role or management consulting position, with at least 5 years of specific experience in a Revenue Management, Price Management, Cost Management leadership role within a leading organization
  • Deep experience in working with and developing advanced analytical tools and modeling techniques
  • Demonstrated understanding of all areas of the value chain:  procurement, sales and marketing, and field execution
  • Experience in price management, including price strategy development
  • Experience in monitoring and scorecarding pricing activities and impact
  • Experience in developing analyses into actionable, relevant, go to market strategy and execution plans
  • Expert in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required
  • Experience with Business Objects, SQL, or equivalent reporting tools preferred
  • Wholesale food distribution or consumer packaged goods industry experience a significant advantage
