JOB DESCRIPTION

Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Technician

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

  1. A minimum of 2 years experience working with quality systems documentation & administration in a USDA – FSIS inspected facility.
  2. Some knowledge of meat processing and meat processing equipment with knowledge of simple laboratory testing procedures preferred.
  3. Seeking a mature individual capable of effective interaction with plant hourly employees.

 

KNOWLEDGE

 

  1. Basic knowledge of food safety policies including HACCP, SSOP’s, GMP’s and USDA – FSIS regulations.
  2. Basic understanding of implementing product and equipment hold and release procedures as well as a working knowledge of product recalls.
  3. Basic experience in microbiological testing of plant equipment and environment preferred.
  4. Background in implementing plant procedures.
  5. Basic knowledge of FDA Seafood HACCP monitoring would be advantageous.

 

ABILITIES/SKILLS

 

  1. Working computer (MSWORD, Excel), written, problem solving and verbal communication skills.
  2. Ability to work extended periods of time in a cold environment and work well with hourly line personnel.

 

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Monitor HACCP Program
  2. Monitor food safety and defense programs including:
    1. Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures
    2. Metal Detection
    3. Pest Control
    4. Good Manufacturing Practices
    5. Chemical Control
    6. Pre-Operational and Operational Sanitation
    7. Food Defense
    8. Supplier Approval & Receiving Documentation
  3. Monitor Quality Programs
    1. Portion Cut, Portion Size, Product Quality & Product Packaging Quality Control
  4. Assist QA Manager/Supervisor in employee training
  5. Assist QA Manager/Supervisor in Recall and Traceability Programs
  6. Other responsibilities as requested

 

In the event that the FSQA Technician is absent, the FSQA Manager/Director or FSQA Supervisor will be in charge of the daily responsibilities.
