  • Support Benefits department leadership in ensuring efficient and accurate administration of the company’s defined contribution benefit programs.  Provide input into plan design and administration decisions and the overall effective management of plans.  Support the broader Sysco HR organization and the Sysco Benefits Center or Pension Center in troubleshooting and resolving issues and in identifying root causes of issues to improve both internal and external processes.



  • Coordinate with vendors, Payroll, Legal, Labor Relations, and other Total Rewards team members to ensure effective administration of all defined contribution benefit programs.  Work with Total Rewards, legal counsel, accounting/finance and administrative process owners to ensure the most efficient and accurate administrative processes.  Assist internal vendor relationship owners (i.e., Manager and Director of Benefits/Compensation, etc.) in providing direction to third-party administrative service providers to ensure effective transfer of information required to administer plans, as well as high-quality service to Sysco associates.
  • Initiate and ensure execution of recurring internal benefits processes, such as enrollments, elections, communications, etc.
  • Interface with Sysco associates to provide information and/or direct to resources, communications and tools to ensure understanding of their rewards programs, optimizing use of third-party resources.


  • Education:
    • Bachelors in Business, Human Resources, Science or related analytical field
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years’ experience administering multiple types of benefit plans, including unions and non-unions
  • Technical Skills & Abilities:
    • Extensive knowledge of health and welfare and retirement benefit plans
    • Comprehensive understanding of benefits administration processes, services and measurement tools
    • Ability to execute all aspects of 401k plan administration, working with both internal and external parties
    • Able to identify and analyze data, troubleshoot issues and recommend necessary changes and updates
    • Knowledge of benefits regulatory/compliance environment
    • Ability to audit processes
    • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a demanding work environment
    • Ability to work independently and on a team
    • Critical thinking and strong analytical capabilities
    • Knowledge and familiarity with various internal and external systems and programs
    • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and other MS applications, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills; ability to effectively liaison with key internal stakeholders including Payroll, Legal, Financial Accounting, etc. and external vendors
    • Strong customer service experience
    • Detail-oriented with focus on ensuring compliance, reducing risks and gaining efficiencies
  • Decision-making Authority:
    • Most important decisions made fully independently:
      • Able to self-direct work priorities in order to meet deadlines
      • Independent decisions on the best use of available information and tools to effectively complete daily work tasks
      • Able to determine when to escalate issues/decisions and partner with appropriate leaders
    • Most important decisions made with review and approval of other individuals or supervisors (include the reviews/approvals required):
      • Direction to outside vendors
      • Format of reports and related materials (presentations, etc.)
      • Recommending changes to administrative processes
