Requirements Responsible for managing or performing work across multiple human resources (HR) sub-families including: • General HR program/policy development, administration, and compliance. • General business support. • Employee hiring, onboarding, termination, and records maintenance. • Employee and labor relations and communications. • Rewards program coordination and/or administration. • Relocation services (domestic and international). • Immigration services. • HR-related training in some organizations, may also be accountable for HR business partnership (HRBP) (consulting and coaching), mobility (strategy and design), staffing and recruiting, talent and organization performance, training and development, and human resource information systems (HRIS).

JOB SUMMARY
This position serves as a human resource (HR) consultant for assigned distribution centers with respect to staffing management, employee relations, maintaining union-free operations, training and development, policy interpretation and compliance, benefits, compensation, etc. Develops strategies to link HR initiatives to business goals. Manages the implementation process and tracking of company-wide programs.

This is a Hybrid or Remote position within the North Region (areas are listed under work environment).

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyzes operations and human resources-related data, identify trends and consults with center management to proactively reverse negative trends.

  • Provides guidance and support to center HRBPs and Training Managers regarding training, employee relations, staffing, benefits, compensation, policies and procedures, affirmative action planning, policy interpretation, compliance, etc.

  • Delivers training of company-wide programs such as targeted selection, performance management process, leadership workshop, corrective coaching, advising on labor matters, etc.

  • Participates in the development of company-wide training programs; coordinates center-level training initiatives in conjunction with HRBPs and Training Managers.

  • Reviews terminations to ensure adherence with policies and procedures.

  • Evaluates and advises of potential liability which may exist.

  • Counsels and/or drafts company position statements in response to agency charges.

  • Investigates and resolves ethics hotline concerns for assigned region.

  • Develops and manages HR project plans for acquired companies and start-up distribution centers; keeps senior management apprised of project status; recommends and facilitates actions to keep the project on task.

  • Ensures compliance with EEO/AA through training.

  • Facilitates the implementation and guidance of current performance management systems, to include succession development plans for assigned centers.

  • Participates in and sometimes lead focus groups aimed at improving company-wide retention, training, assimilation, etc.

  • Create and deliver presentations to corporate officers regarding HR practices.

  • Participates in annual center compensation review meetings.

  • Keep informed of Federal and State legislation in the human resource area and communicate these changes to management.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education

  • A 4-year degree preferably in human resources is preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in human resources, with demonstrated progression of responsibilities.

  • 3-years of multi-unit experience.

  • Managerial experience in an HR function and experience having direct reports.

  • Field HR experience.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations

  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Certificate of auto insurance as defined in company policy.

Professional Skills

  • Functional expertise and ability to obtain training as necessary.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong employment law knowledge is preferred.

  • Ability to work with and influence all types of people at all levels of the organization.

  • Distribution or manufacturing experience and exempt/non-exempt recruiting background preferred.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with employees and other business contacts.

  • Able to understand and analyze data.

Mental/ Visual Demand

  • Must be able to read at distances close to the eyes, with or without correction.

Working Environment

  • Most of the day is spent in a comfortable office environment.

  • Some travel (25% is required by air and personal vehicle to various operations throughout SYGMA, sometimes with little notice.

  • Preferred area of residence: Detroit, MI, Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Indianapolis, IN, Harrisburg, PA, Richmond, VA, and Cincinnati, OH.
